We wanted to shed some light on the components that go into AddCBD food enhancers. Amazingly, there are just three key ingredients in every bottle, CBD or CBG, MCTs & sunflower seed oil! We’ve covered Cannabidiol (CBD) and Cannabigerol (CBG) in our previous blog posts…but what about the other two?
Medium Chain Triglycerides, or MCTs
MCT’s are fatty acids derived from plants like coconut. Awareness about the essential role fats play in our diet, has increased in recent years thanks to high-fat diets such as the ketogenic diet. The purpose of MCT in our enhancers is what we refer to as a carrier oil.
We use this carrier oil in our food enhancer to help transport the CBD effectively to the bloodstream where it starts to work. MCTs are pro-active ingredients, that let your body break down the good stuff, faster and more efficiently.
When CBD is ingested orally, it has a long journey ahead to get the bloodstream. It passes through the digestive system and onto the liver, where it is then metabolised. After that, it’s dispersed through the circulatory system. However, with CBD emulsified in MCT oil, there’s less risk of losing the active CBD before it begins working its wonders.
Sunflower seed oil
Another oil that has tremendous benefits! We are what we eat, and the goodness packed into sunflower seeds can help the body in many ways. Oleic acid, Vitamin E, seasonal and linoleic acid all help keep your skin healthy and supple. These also have anti-bacterial properties, and as a non-irritant, they’re suitable for most people out there.
We wanted to create a product that integrates seamlessly with your routine. Our three core ingredients have no overpowering flavour; they are almost undetectable from a taste perspective. Giving you the freedom to experiment and introduce cannabinoids to your system, reaping the benefits we so often read about.
There is also significant research to indicate increased absorption when you pair your enhancer with high-fat food. For example, milk. Dairy or non-dairy. Our additives work incredibly well when paired with that morning cup of caffeine! Higher fat content milk works harmoniously with AddCBD.
For our vegetarian and vegan friends, try using AddCBD with avocado. It’s an excellent fatty food that would bind well with your cannabinoid booster! If you’re just starting, follow our dosage guide and keep track of what works best for you.
We have plenty of recipes and a growing community of AddCBD users, so you’ll find plenty of inspiration on our website – www.addcbd.co.uk
